NEXUS Terms of Use

In effect since October 29, 2026. Last updated: November 3, 2026. This is an English translation; the Spanish text prevails.

What changed in this version (the previous one is from October 15, 2026): section 2 adds end-to-end encryption of direct messages and what happens if you lose your devices and your recovery code; section 4, that from an encrypted chat we only store and transmit the encrypted version; section 5, that the rules also apply in encrypted chats and how reporting works there; section 8, that some updates are mandatory; section 11, the loss of encrypted messages. The Privacy Policy, updated the same day, changed too.

These terms are an agreement between you and ZENISO SOFTWORKS ("ZENISO", "we"), based in Costa Rica, about your use of NEXUS: the application, the NEXUS account, the module Market and the online services that come with them ("NEXUS"). By creating an account or using NEXUS you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use NEXUS.

1. Minimum age

You must be at least 19 years old to create an account and use NEXUS. When you sign up you declare your birth year; declaring a false year breaks these terms and we may close the account.

2. Your account

- The information you give when signing up must be true, and your email must be yours.

- The account is personal: do not share or sell it. You are responsible for what is done with it.

- Keep your password safe. We recommend turning on two-step verification. If you think someone got into your account, change your password and write to us.

- If you turn on end-to-end encryption of direct messages, NEXUS gives you a recovery code. Keep it somewhere safe: with it, or from another of your devices, a new device is confirmed. If you lose all your devices and the code, we cannot recover your encrypted messages, because we do not have the keys. Only confirm devices that are yours.

- Your username is permanent. It may not impersonate another person, ZENISO or a brand.

3. Membership, coins and purchases

- NEXUS membership and coins are obtained through Patreon or other channels we indicate. Payments are processed by that provider under its own terms; we do not store card data.

- On Patreon you choose the amount. Each payment Patreon confirms to us gives you, for the month it covers, the highest tier whose price it reaches (each tier's price and what it includes are shown in the app); whatever is left above that tier is credited as Nexus Coins, at 1 coin per US dollar cent. If you pay in another currency, we convert it to dollars at the European Central Bank's reference rate for that day. Patreon's fees are not deducted.

- Tiers are cumulative: a more expensive one includes everything in the cheaper ones.

- If you do not renew, the membership ends when the paid period ends (with 3 days of margin in case the charge arrives late) and your account becomes free: you lose the tier's features, but you keep your account, your data, your coins and what you bought.

- If a payment is refunded, charged back or marked as fraud by Patreon, we undo what that payment credited: the tier and the coins. A partial refund is treated as a full one. Refunds are requested from Patreon, under its rules, without prejudice to the rights the law gives you.

- A membership gift code can be redeemed once, from Settings, and gives the tier and the time it states, as long as it has not expired or been revoked. You can also gift membership to another account with your coins. Neither codes nor gifted membership can be exchanged for money.

- The NEXUS app from Google Play sells nothing: from it you cannot buy with coins, gift membership, link Patreon or redeem codes. It uses the membership, coins and purchases your account already has.

- Coins only work inside NEXUS: they are not money, cannot be exchanged for money or transferred outside NEXUS, and are not refundable except where the law requires it.

- A module bought with coins is yours forever, including its new versions, as long as the module stays in the Market.

- If a free module you have becomes paid, you have 7 days to decide whether to buy it or remove it. Nobody is charged automatically.

4. What you post

- What you post on NEXUS (messages, profile, images, reviews, modules, code, comments) remains yours.

- So that NEXUS can work, you give us a free, worldwide permission to store, copy, process, display and transmit it within NEXUS, only as far as needed to provide the service. That permission ends when you delete it or delete your account, except for what the Privacy Policy explains is kept. In an end-to-end encrypted chat, what we store and transmit is the encrypted version, which we cannot read.

- You are responsible for what you post and for having the rights to post it.

5. Rules of conduct

You may not use NEXUS to:

- post illegal content, content that exploits or sexualizes minors (zero tolerance: we report it to the authorities), content that incites violence or hatred, or that harasses, threatens or exposes other people's private data;

- distribute malware, scams, phishing or spam;

- attack, overload or try to access without permission NEXUS, its servers or other users' computers;

- circumvent NEXUS protections (module review, signatures, sandbox permissions, limits) or reverse engineer it for that purpose;

- infringe copyrights, trademarks or other third-party rights;

- create accounts in bulk or automate the use of NEXUS without our permission.

These rules apply equally in end-to-end encrypted direct messages and groups. Since we cannot read them, we act on what is reported to us: when you report a message from an encrypted chat, your app sends us a decrypted copy of what you choose (the message, earlier messages as context and, if you want, the file) with a proof that it was sent that way. That copy is seen by the team that reviews reports and kept as the Privacy Policy explains. Do not send more than needed in a report. In encrypted chats we do not scan the content automatically on our servers, because we cannot see it: we act on what is reported to us. If a report shows content that exploits or sexualizes minors, we may close the accounts involved and we report it to the relevant authorities, as the law requires.

6. The Market and creators

- Editing your grid and using ZENISO's official modules is free for every account. Installing and using other creators' modules from the Market requires membership; our servers check it.

- Modules go through an automatic check and a staff review, and approved ones are signed. Review reduces risk but does not guarantee that a module works well or has no bugs.

- If you publish a module, you declare that it is yours (or that you have the right to publish it), that it does what you describe and nothing else, and that it does not try to harm anyone. You can set its price and, if it is free, open its code under one of the licenses NEXUS offers (MIT, Apache-2.0, BSD-3-Clause or NEXUS-Libre 1.0). The license you accept is recorded and applies to whoever uses your code.

- Repositories, branches, pull requests and forks work under the rules NEXUS shows: in your module, only you (or the maintainers you authorize) decide what gets in.

- If you sell a module (or a cosmetic) for coins, you receive 80% of the coins of each sale; the rest is taken out of circulation and goes to no one. What you earn is held for 30 days, because a buyer's chargeback undoes the sale; after that you can spend it or ask us to pay it out through PayPal, under the conditions we show you when you ask. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to what you earn.

- We may reject, remove or unpublish modules, pages, reviews or images that break these terms or put users at risk.

7. Other users' modules and servers

- Modules run in an isolated environment and ask for your permission for sensitive functions (sending messages, opening programs, seeing processes). Check what you accept.

- Dedicated servers are run by other users, with their own rules. ZENISO does not control or answer for what happens in them, although we may act on violations of these terms.

- If you host a dedicated server, it runs on your computer and your connection, and you answer for what happens in it and for the data it keeps (its messages, its logs and the IP addresses of those who join, which stay on your computer). It has a single owner account, the one that manages it from the panel, and it connects to NEXUS with a credential that only works for that server: do not share it.

- NexusBridge creates virtual networks between computers. To join a network, your account has to be approved; addresses inside the network are assigned by our NexusBridge server, and the number of people per network depends on the tier of whoever creates it. Using it to get into computers or networks without permission breaks section 5.

- Remote control (using another computer's mouse and keyboard with «Offer help», joining a game as a controller, or viewing another computer's screen) only works with the permission of whoever is at that computer: NEXUS asks them every time, and on Windows they can cut it off at any time with the F8 key. If you give that permission, you are responsible for who you give it to: do not let someone you do not know control your computer. NEXUS will never ask to control your computer; if someone asks for it claiming to be from NEXUS or from tech support, it is a scam. Using remote control to get into a computer without the consent of the person using it, or tricking someone to get it, breaks section 5: we may close the accounts involved and, when the law requires it, cooperate with the authorities.

- Streams on official servers have a maximum quality according to your tier. On the local network and on dedicated servers we set no such cap: your computer, your network and the host set it.

8. NEXUS is ours

NEXUS is proprietary software of ZENISO SOFTWORKS. We give you a personal, free, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to install and use it under these terms. You may not sell, redistribute or modify it, except as allowed by the licenses of the third-party components it includes. NEXUS updates itself automatically to fix bugs and security issues. Some updates are mandatory because they change how the service works: for example, sending direct messages requires NEXUS 2.0.80 or later. With an earlier version you can read your older messages, but you cannot send direct messages or see encrypted ones. On the Microsoft Store and Google Play, the store delivers the update.

The third-party components distributed with NEXUS (for example, the TAP-Windows6 driver that NexusBridge uses on Windows, licensed under GPL-2.0) are governed by their own licenses, published at https://nexus.zenisosoftworks.com/nexus/legal/third-party?lang=en (and in the Licenses screen of recent versions), together with the source code those licenses require us to offer. Nothing in these terms limits the rights those licenses give you over those components.

NEXUS for Windows includes code from Microsoft Corporation that Microsoft allows to be distributed with applications: the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, in files such as msvcp140.dll and vcruntime140.dll or built into NEXUS programs. That code is licensed, not sold, and you may only use it as part of NEXUS. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, or otherwise try to derive its source code, except to the extent applicable law permits despite this limitation or the open-source licenses of third-party components included in NEXUS require it; work around its technical limitations; remove, hide or modify the notices of Microsoft or its suppliers; distribute, publish, rent or lend it separately from NEXUS, or offer it as a stand-alone product; or use it against the law, including the export control and sanctions laws that apply. Microsoft and its suppliers give no warranty for that code and, to the extent the law allows, are not liable to you for any damages arising from it.

9. Suspension and closure

- You can delete your account whenever you want from Settings > Security.

- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that puts other users at risk, or when the law requires it. When we can, we will tell you and explain why.

- If we close an account for a violation, its coins and purchases are lost, unless the law provides otherwise.

10. No warranties

NEXUS is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we do not guarantee that it will work without interruptions or errors, or that it is fit for a particular purpose. Keep copies of what matters to you.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, ZENISO is not liable for indirect damages, loss of data (including the loss of end-to-end encrypted messages because you lost your devices and your recovery code), profits or opportunities arising from the use of NEXUS, of third-party modules or servers, or from other users' conduct. Nothing here limits the rights you have under Costa Rica's consumer protection law (Law 7472) or any liability the law does not allow to be excluded.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If the change is important, NEXUS will show it to you and ask you to accept it before you continue using it. The current version is always in the app and at nexus.zenisosoftworks.com/nexus/legal/terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Any dispute will be resolved before the competent courts of San José, Costa Rica, without prejudice to the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
